The 2X Global Summit is headed to the African continent in 2024.

Co-hosted by MEDA (Mennonite Economic Development Associates), this year the annual members meeting of the gender finance membership network will be held in Nairobi, Kenya between September 16th to 18th.

The 2X Global Summit is a high-level forum for strategic networking and solution-oriented programming geared towards closing the global gender financing gap.

Under the theme “Solutions for Systems-Level Change”, this year’s Summit will explore and identify ways for mobilising the power of collective action across various stakeholder groups in order to transform finance and make it more gender-smart and inclusive.

“This year’s Summit is going to be very much action-oriented,” stated Jessica Espinoza, CEO of 2X Global.

“We’ve all sat in various fora where the challenges and obstacles hindering the world from unlocking more gender smart capital, have been identified and mapped out and discussed.

For this year’s Summit, with so many players in the sector present and so many opportunities to take the initiative and set things in motion, we want to focus on answers to the problems and actions we can take and even get started on while we’re there in Nairobi,” stated Espinoza.

Fittingly for the event which is being held in Africa’s Silicon Savannah, technology and innovation will be a significant thread running through the programming as the Plenary Day of the Summit (September 17th) will explore the topic “Investing in Women in Tech”.

Dr Dorothy Nyambi, President and CEO of MEDA, said the organisation was excited to bring the Summit to the African continent for the first time, highlighting the continent's rich digital innovation and solutions.

“We’re pleased to be able to bring the 2X Global Summit to the continent. We know what the tech sector is and has been for decades now, a huge driver of economic growth and that Africa has critical lessons to share about developing and scaling technology businesses. “We’re looking forward to bringing these lessons together with insights and recommendations from among the 2X Global members on gender finance to figure out ways we can contribute in transforming finance - together,” said Dr Nyambi.

In 2023, nearly 250 representatives drawn from the world’s largest development finance institutions, pension funds, family offices, foundations, philanthropy and donor agencies, investment banks and other organizations, attended the 2X Global Summit (then called the Annual Member Meeting) in Luxembourg, which was hosted by the European Investment Bank.

The 2X Global Summit is a member-exclusive event by registration only.
